This last summer I designed this bag from seeing an idea on Pinterest on how stencil on a t-shirt with a bleach pen. It was so simple and easy that my plain burlap bag was needing some decorating.
Now when I tote it around, I always get asked, “did I make it”. Yes, “How”? Well here is how….

For the lettering I used my Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cricut cartridge and designed the layout
I wanted and cut out each area on to a separate piece of brown vinyl.
I placed the vinyl were I wanted on the bag and how I wish the design to look when finished. Then colored in the negative space with the bleached pen and traced around the positive space on the stars and bottom decorative emblems.

Let the bleach sit for 15 to 20 mins. Then take the whole item over to the sink and wash with very cold water until all the excess bleach is off. Then damp dry and carefully take off the vinyl. I was able to keep my template afterwards for another project with this design.

I placed the bag in the dryer on regular heat to finish drying and viola here is my finished image and it looks like it was professionally printed. I inserted two brads in the middle of the stars for an extra element. The bleach pen is my new favorite tool.
Hope you try this project out too.
Thank you,
Stephanie
